McCook, Neb. Volunteers at the Southwest Nebraska Genealogy Society (SWNGS) said they were pleasantly surprised by the recent $250 donation by Linda Hein.
Hein, formerly of McCook, was the recipient of the annual Cloyd Clark award given by the Norris Institute this year and as part of the award, a $250 donation is given to the non-profit of her choice. Now retired from the Nebraska Historical Society in Lincoln, Neb., Hein was the curator at the Sen. George Norris Home in McCook and long-time McCook Gazette columnist for Southwest Nebraska history.
Sherri Dack of SWNGS said the money would go toward a fund to replace the computer processors at the office and laptops. With the current computers, we can limp along but new computers would be so much faster, Dack said.
Linda Buck and other volunteers at the Southwest Nebraska Genealogy Society are enjoying the spacious library they have at their location in the Temple Building, that is nearly double the space they had at the previous location.
