Janice Katherine Miller Elliott, 67, passed from this life, peacefully, on Saturday, April 23, 2022, surrounded by her family that she loved so dearly.
Jan was born in Amarillo, Tx., on Oct. 30, 1954, to Earl and Wendy Miller. She later moved to Chattanooga, where she graduated from East Ridge High School in 1972. She went on to attend UT Chattanooga where she was a member of the AD Pi Sorority.
Jan was a hard worker and put her heart and soul into everything she attempted. She dealt with life on her own terms and was tenacious as she was beautiful having the most contagious laugh and smile. She retired after 32 years with the State of Tennessee Tourism Department serving as South Eastern Tennessee regional manager.
One of her true obsessions began as a pastime, Genealogy. Researching her ancestors became a passion of Jan’s. She loved traveling across the United States visiting cemeteries in search of ancestors. This love of genealogy enabled her to join a long list of organizations, after providing her lineage for each one, which is no easy task. The following are some of the organizations she was an active member of: United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society United States Daughters of…
