Charles (Chuck) Schultz, 75, was born in Detroit, MI to Helen M. and Herman P. Schultz, and passed away on June 3, 2022. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Chuck is survived by his faithful and supportive partner of many years (Janet Murphy); his children Heather (Patrick) and Gregory (Charlene); four wonderful grandchildren (Hannah, Aiden, Trevor and Brady); his brother Robert (Susan), his brother-in-law Bob Hedke and many nieces and nephews; Janet’s children Meghan Naidnur (Luke Rasmussen) and Joseph Naidnur (Craig Andrew). He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother (Donald and his wife Gloria) and most sadly, in 2004 by his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Sandra. Growing up in a poor but loving family, including sharing a two-bedroom, one-bath house on the near west side of the city with his parents and two brothers, influenced and motivated Chuck his whole life. His mother stressed the importance of getting a good education, and in 1969 he graduated from Wayne State University (Detroit, MI) with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics. Immediately following graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and ultimately sent to Vietnam for a year and four months as part of the 23rd Infantry Division where he was responsible for the fire direction control of artillery. 50 years later Chuck and his partner returned to Vietnam and he was deeply saddened by the death and destruction that had been done there by the United States for no good reason. The structure, discipline and fight for survival that Chuck experienced in the military had a significant impact on him.
