YEMASSEE — At 11 a.m. May 24, 1995, a state highway worker mowing the grass alongside a rural road found a woman’s body in a drainage ditch. She wore only underpants.
A pathologist at the Medical University of South Carolina determined she’d died a day or two before — strangled.
The site offered few clues as to who she was or how she got there.
