Notes - Birth date calculated from death announcement, i.e., he was 38 in 1893.
Don Cole stated before he died that his grandfather was adopted from Ireland. Y-dna testing is supportive of this statement.
Based on DNA matches, it is fairly certain that John H Cole is a grandson of Daniel Leahy and Mary Sullivan. Of the three Leahy boys, only Michael settled in Illinois, which is why it is presumed that Michael is John's father, but this is subjective and not documented.
Documentation shows two John H Coles in IL, one who is the son of David Cole and Mary Crabtree. Although this John H has dna connections, ancestry matches puts it at Mary's grandfather's level which may indicate the connection is through a different marriage.
